Bernard Lucien Gatien

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Bernard Lucien Gatien of Smiths Falls, Ontario. Bernard was born on December 3, 1940, and he passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Gatien; his parents, Lucien and Rita Gatien; and his siblings, Ronald Gatien (late Annette), Huguette Gatien, Jacqueline Bélanger (Denis), and Monique Madore. Bernard is survived by his siblings, Lilianne Gatien, Gérard Gatien (Nicole), Gilles Gatien (Francine), and Marcel Gatien (Carole); his brother-in-law, Lévis Madore; and his family members, Anna Smith (Jim), Maryanne Sheffield, Robert Sheffield (Andrea), Greg Sheffield, Cathy Sheffield, Roxanne, and Nancy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Blair & Son Smiths Falls Reception Centre, located at 112 Beckwith St N, Smiths Falls, ON K7A2C2. Following the celebration, a burial will be held at the Merrickville Union Cemetery, located at 204 Burritts Rapids Rd, Merrickville, ON K0G1N0, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
