Arlene Lenore Pettersen

Arlene Lenore Pettersen passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Norview Lodge in Simcoe. She was 88 years old. A resident of Port Dover, she was the beloved wife of David, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. She is survived by her children Jim Pettersen (married to Caroline) and Heather Smith (married to Mark); grandchildren Alex (married to Joanna), Carleigh (married to Duncan), Connor, Taylor (married to Kyle), MacKenzie, Alexandra (married to Ryan), Maya and Dax; and a sister, the late Susan VanderRyd, as well as the late Jim Ford (married to the late Carole) and the late Muriel Fredson (married to Ed). She was predeceased by her sister Susan and by her siblings' spouses. Arlene was an active member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, participating in the choir and various committees, and volunteered for more than 25 years at Norfolk General Hospital, receiving provincial recognition at the Ontario Volunteer Services Awards. Friends may visit on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe, with a service scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Ian Shaw and Reverend Mikal Schomburg. Donations may be directed to the Who Did It Club, the Alzheimer’s Society, or St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
