Margaret Boer-VanderWal

Margaret Boer-VanderWal passed away on May 23, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born to Hindrik and Grietje Wierenga in Ten Post, the Netherlands. Margaret was a loving wife to her first husband, Tony Boer, and to her second husband, John VanderWal. She and Tony emigrated to Sarnia in 1954 and were married for 41 years, raising a family of six children. Margaret and John were married for 20 years. Predeceased by her husbands, her son-in-law Tim Gravelle, and six siblings, Margaret is survived by her children, Cathy and Mark Smith, Fred Boer and Lorna Rourke, Edith-Ann and Harry Poort, Rick Boer, Tony and Talin Boer, Teresa and Rick Sennema, and by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Anna Dykstra, many affectionate nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands, and by John's children and extended family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., from Wyoming Christian Reformed Church, 4524 Confederation Line, Wyoming. Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery. A private visitation will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church or St. Joseph's Hospice. Arrangements are by Needham-Jay Funeral Home.
