Karen Patricia Sewell
Karen Patricia Sewell passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 65, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. Born in Northern Ireland, Karen immigrated to Canada with her family in 1967, and Sarnia quickly became her home. She later attended Lambton College, where she pursued a career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. After graduating, Karen moved to Toronto and worked at St. Michael's Hospital before returning to Sarnia, where she spent many years working in the laboratory at Bluewater Health until her retirement in 2024. Karen was a strong, fiercely independent woman who devoted her life to raising her three children, Ryan Russell, Danielle Coolledge, and Logan Russell. She is now reunited with her parents, Joseph and Vera Sewell; her sister, Angela Clayton; her brother-in-law, Mike Clayton; and her nephew, Ethan Miniou. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her children; her brother, Joseph Sewell; her sister, Gail Forget; and her many nieces and nephews. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the ICU, Medicine, and Palliative Care units at Bluewater Health for the compassionate care Karen received during her hospital stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 6.
