David James HANLEY

David James Hanley passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 74, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Barbara for 49 years and loving father of Katie, Jordan, and Jonathan. David was a treasured grandfather of seven and a dear brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Emily Hanley, and in-laws Reg and Margaret Stewart. David dedicated over 30 years to his career as a firefighter, retiring as a captain. He enjoyed various sports, including karate, football, baseball, hockey, and golf, and was a skilled craftsman who found joy in his wood shop. David cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren, and also enjoyed relaxing rides on his Harley with his wife. The family wishes to thank the medical staff who cared for David. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Sarnia. Donations to the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association may be made in sympathy.
