Professor Andrew Turek

Professor Andrew Turek passed away in Whitby on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband of Marie, who predeceased him in 2022, and father of Ross and his wife MaryAnn of Whitby, and Douglas and his wife Shelly of Melbourne, Australia. Andrew was a cherished grandfather to Allison and her husband Andrew, Evelyn and her husband Owen, Max and his wife Sydney, Grace and her husband Darius, Lauren and her husband Cody, and Brooke. He was also a celebrated great-grandfather to Vivian and Kyla. Andrew was the proud son of Colonel Karol and Janina, and brother to Stan and Krystyna, all of whom predeceased him. A former 50-year resident of Windsor and popular professor of geology at the University of Windsor, Andrew was born in Poland and later studied at the University of Edinburgh, where he met Marie. They began their life together in Canada in 1958. Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service at Heavenly Rest Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 29, where Andrew will be laid to rest next to Marie.
