George E. JONES

George E. JONES passed away peacefully at Fairview Suites Retirement Home on May 27, 2026, in his 97th year. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Katherine Elizabeth (nee Fawcett), sister Betty, brother Glen and his wife Jackie, brother-in-law Murray, and parents Carrolyn and Ivan. George is survived by his children Murray, Susan and her husband Ron, step-grandchildren Adam, Andrew, Sarah, and their children, grandchildren Jonathan Wickens and his wife Elise, Brad Wickens and his wife Whitney, and great-granddaughters Vivian and Everly. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Holly, David and his wife Kim, Mark, Karen and her husband Ed, Steve, Glennis and her husband Greg, Julia, and David, as well as Garrett Wickens and his sister-in-law Sylvia. George was born and raised in Preston and was a lifelong resident of the community. He was a member of the Preston Scout House Band and volunteered for the local food bank and Friday morning curling. George enjoyed sports, particularly golfing and curling at the Galt Curling Club, where he formed lasting friendships. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Galt Curling Club at a later date.
