TERESA JOAN FARRELL
Teresa Joan Farrell passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Born July 22, 1935, Teresa grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. She was the beloved wife of the late James Thomas (Tom) Farrell; cherished mother of Maureen (Edward Lacika) of Komoka, Ontario; Jamie (Betty Augustyniak) of St. Colomban, Quebec; and Patrick (P.J.) Farrell (Angela Green) of Port Hope, Ontario. Her grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Justin, and Alyssa, were a constant source of pride and happiness, and she treasured every moment she spent with them. Predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Edith Riopelle (née Purcell), and her siblings, the late Hugh Riopelle (Marie), the late Gerald Riopelle (Jeannine), the late Lois Arundel, the late Harold Riopelle (Alice), and the late Patrick Riopelle. Predeceased also by her nieces Catherine Hall of Kemptville, ON, and Vicki Huskilson of Lockeport, NS, and by nephews Stephen Riopelle of Richmond, VA, and baby Michael Riopelle, also of Ottawa. Predeceased as well by her sister-in-law Betty Byrne (the late Jim) of Peterborough, ON, and her brothers-in-law, Joseph (Bud) Farrell of Ottawa, and Desmond Farrell (the late Fae Swim) of Lockeport, NS. Her many nieces, nephews, and close friends will also dearly miss her. A devout Catholic with progressive views, faith formed the cornerstone of her life. She spent time as a novitiate with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Peterborough, ON, and later worked as a secretary for Dibble Construction Co. and on Parliament Hill. Her lifelong love of learning took her back to school at the University of Ottawa, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. Visitation will be held at D E ALLISON FUNERAL HOME.
