Walter GILLETA

Walter Gilleta passed away on January 24, 2026. He is predeceased by his wife, Yvonne, and his grandson, Jason Simpson. He will be deeply missed by his children: Allen Gilleta, Shirley Simpson, Lynn Gilleta-Mills, Lorraine Small, and Roger Gilleta. Walter was also lovingly known as 'Poppa' to his grandchildren and leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren. Born in Manitoba, Walter and his wife later came to Ontario to build their life and raise their family. He worked many dedicated years before retiring from Hayes Dana and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. Walter's quiet strength and love for his family will be remembered, and his legacy lives on through the generations who were blessed to call him Dad, Poppa, and Grampa. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the hospital staff for their exceptional care and kindness to him in his final days. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Walter's memory are welcome to be made to the Walker Cancer Centre.
