Art VANDERLAAN

Art Vanderlaan passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 92. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Patricia Bowman and her husband Doug, and Bernice Vanderlaan and her husband Tim, his grandchildren, Brian Bowman and his wife Angelina, and Ruby Burns, his great-grandchildren, Elowen and Luke Bowman, his brother, Jack Vanderlaan and his wife Marie, his sister-in-law, Alice Ford and her husband Dale, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Frieda, and his parents, William and Petronella Vanderlaan. Born in Dubbeldam, the Netherlands, Art and his family immigrated to Canada after WW2, settling briefly in Lowbanks, Ontario, where he met his wife Frieda. Art was a hardworking and determined individual who established a successful family business, Port Colborne Poultry, with his family. He is remembered for his down-to-earth charisma, his love of sharing laughter, and his ability to make friends easily. The Vanderlaan family will receive visitors at the Davidson Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, personal support workers, and staff at the Welland Hospital and St. Elisabeth Health Care for their compassionate care and support.
