VELMA FRANGAKIS

Velma Grace Frangakis passed away peacefully at Andy's House Hospice in Port Carling on June 17, 2026, in her 97th year, at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late James Frangakis, who predeceased her in 2021. Velma is lovingly remembered by her children, Cyndra, Greg, and Brad, and their spouses, Karen, Larissa, and Carol. She was a loving Nanny to Steven, Carley, Kim, Ryan, Elise, Kaitlyn, Chanel, and Savanna, and their spouses, Jadyn, Samantha, Dylan, Gabe, Adam, and Joshua. Velma was also a loving Great-Nanny to Aubrey, Mase, Waylon, Hannah, Preston, Rhett, Owen, and Davis. She is survived by her brother, John Hills, and many nieces and nephews. Born on October 28, 1929, in Toronto, Velma worked for Bank of Montreal and Bell Canada before moving to the USA with her husband. After returning to Canada, she worked for Monsanto and later retired to her cottage on Lake Muskoka in Bala. Velma and her husband enjoyed over 20 winters in Florida after their retirement. The family will receive friends at the Egan Funeral Home on Friday, June 26th, from 10:00 until the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 11:00. Following a reception at the funeral home, interment will take place in Nobleton Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Andy's House.
