Peter William McGowan

Peter William McGowan passed away on June 25, 2026, at Peterborough Hospice. A native of Toronto, Peter had a distinguished sixty-three-year career as a member of Local 46, with many years spent working for the Toronto Board of Education and teaching apprentices for the union. Following his retirement, Peter and his wife Lyn relocated to the Kawartha region. Peter was actively involved in Freemasonry, serving in various capacities, and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Rameses Shrine. He is survived by his wife Lyn, daughters Paige and Kristi, grandchildren Braedon, Aurora, Rebecca, and Amber, and great-grandchildren Phineas, Emryn-Rose, and Zanya. Peter is also survived by his sister Gail Holland and nephews Nicholas and Gregory Holland, as well as John, Paul, and Daril Holmes. Donations may be made to Shrine Hospital or the Peterborough Humane Society. A Celebration of Life is planned for the fall, to coincide with the Masonic funeral.
