Donald Edward SMITH

Donald Edward Smith peacefully passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 94. He is survived by his children, Jeffery Smith (Dave Lackie) and Tracey Smith (Ross MacDonald), his granddaughter Camryn Tapper (Ben Saltern), and his best friend Tania Sanderson. Born on February 1, 1932, in Flesherton, Ontario, Don left home at 18 to join Ontario Hydro, where he dedicated 38 years of service before enjoying an equal number of years in retirement. He married Sharon on May 20, 1961, and they shared 59 years together until her passing in 2021. Known for his creativity, Don could draw, paint, and build, earning him the nickname 'The Professor' from Gilligan's Island. He was a gentle man, beloved by children and animals alike, and was known for his kindness and respect towards others. His legacy includes a deep love for his family and a commitment to social consciousness.
