Diane Jean (Nee Welch) JOHNSON
Diane Jean Johnson, née Welch, died peacefully at Rubidge Retirement Residence on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Peter Johnson. Diane is survived by her children, Kendra Pickett of Lakefield and Jeff of Peterborough, and her grandchildren, Molly, Owen, and Nicklas. She is also survived by her sister, Lyndia Hancock, and was predeceased by her parents, Charles Roy and Dorothy Welch. Throughout her life she was active in the bridge community, participating in the Bell Girls and the Horse's Ass Bridge Club, and maintained many friendships. Diane retired from Bell Canada in 1994 after a 29‑year career, most recently serving as a manager in the Peterborough and Oshawa offices. Her volunteer work included serving as charter president of the Venture Club, long‑term membership in the IODE, chairing the Festival of Trees, and contributing over 1,000 hours at Fairhaven Home. She also volunteered at the Peterborough Library as a young woman and later as Volunteer Coordinator at the Bridgenorth Library. Her service was recognized with an Ontario Service Award in 2000 and a Peterborough County Volunteerism Award in 2001.
