Carol Davenport (nee Bawden) passed away on April 3, 2026, in her 90th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Bill (William) Davenport and cherished mother of Dennis (Ruth Gentle), Tim (Stacey Caville), Shelagh (David Ellis), and Sharon (David Livingstone). Carol was the dear sister of the late Jim Bawden and sister-in-law, Marie Bawden. She was a proud grandmother of Benjamin (Jessie), Carly (Jon), Joel, Jessica (Ethan), Vincent (Yoko), Michelle (Marco), Colleen (James), Ethan (Racheal), Terry Nathan (Synthia), the late Alex, Victoria (Brandon), and Hannah (Ryan), and great-grandmother to sixteen. Born on April 4, 1936, in Sudbury to William E.G. Bawden and Henrietta LeClair, Carol spent her childhood in remote Ontario mining communities before moving to Toronto in 1949. After graduating from the University of Toronto, she and Bill moved to Peterborough and later to their dream Victorian home in Norwood. Carol was an exceptional piano player and dedicated special education teacher for 30 years with the PVNC Catholic District School Board. She treasured a life of gatherings with family and friends, including Jay (the late Audrey) Davenport, the late Theresa and Frank Peets, Sheila (the late Ed) Niezbrzycki, the late Terry (Shirley) Davenport, and the late Jacqui and George Griffith, as well as many nieces, nephews, LeClair cousins, and antiquing friends. A warm thank you to the staff at Riverview Manor Peterborough and Royal Gardens Peterborough for their exceptional care. A Memorial Service will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, Ontario on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough would be appreciated.
