Alma Mae Bird

Alma Bird, born Alma Mae Gordon on May 27, 1928, in Madoc, Ontario, died at Riverview Manor nursing home in Peterborough on August 14, 2026, at the age of 98. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Grace Gordon. Alma was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Ken Bird, who died in 2020. She is survived by her sisters June, Loreen, and Doris; her brothers Keith and James, both predeceased; her children Pauline Bruce (predeceased) and Keith Byrd; and her grandchildren Paul, James, Bradley, Richard, Chandra, Mandy, Jon, Joe, Brittney and their spouses. Alma was also a great‑grandmother and great‑great‑grandmother. A lifelong gardener, baker, quilter, knitter and embroiderer, she regularly donated mittens to the Salvation Army and crafted quilts, tablecloths, and baked goods for friends and family. No visitation or service will be held; she will be interred at Rosemount Cemetery beside her husband.
