Mervyn Emmerson WENZEL

Mervyn Emmerson Wenzel, of Palmerston and formerly of Wallace Township, passed away peacefully at Royal Terrace in Palmerston on May 23, 2026, at the age of 99. He was the husband of the late Fran Fotheringham, who predeceased him in 2024. Mervyn is survived by his siblings, Mildred Rivers of Woodstock and Bernice Askett of Listowel, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He is also fondly remembered by Fran's family. Mervyn was predeceased by his parents, Addison and Ella Wenzel, siblings Marguerite Hartung, Ken Wenzel, Orville Wenzel, Earl Wenzel, and Gladys Gedcke, siblings-in-law Bill Rivers and Elwin Askett, niece Marie Woodliffe, and great-nephew Joseph. Born on July 21, 1926, in Wallace Township, Mervyn took over the family dairy farm and later retired. He and his wife Fran enjoyed golfing and curling together. A visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home in Listowel on May 30, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by interment at Zion United Church Cemetery in Wallace Township.
