Ramona Theresa Macdonald (née Paplauskas-Ramunas) passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at the age of 86. A proud Lithuanian who immigrated to Canada at a young age, Ramona was known for her rebellious spirit and fierce independence. Her vibrant energy and unforgettable laugh left a lasting impression on all who met her. An avid hiker, cross-country skier, and passionate reader, she balanced her love for health with a fondness for salami. Ramona was a talented writer and editor, establishing art galleries in St. John's and Halifax, and later becoming an award-winning filmmaker and mentor. She is survived by her daughter Grazina, son Bruce (Sharon), grandchildren Matthew, Meaghan (Michael), Campbell, and Kathryn, as well as her brother Tony Ramunas, sister Theresa (George) Matyas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Antanas and Marija, and her brother Mike. The family expresses gratitude to the staff and her companion Tracy at the Garry J. Armstrong Home in Ottawa for their exceptional care.
