Léon MAINVILLE

Léon Mainville passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in Ottawa, at the age of 85. He is survived by his daughters, Lara Mainville (Christoph Laeer) and Ann Mainville-Neeson (Ed Neeson), along with his grandchildren, Félix Girouard (Manon Bilger), Margaux Girouard (Marc Strohbach), Robin Girouard, Christian Neeson (Kyra Sullivan), and Colin Neeson. Léon is also mourned by his step-grandchildren, David, Annabelle, and Elisabeth Laeer, as well as his brother, Roland Mainville (Thérèse), and sister, Suzanne Mainville-Duchesne. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie-Luce Filion Mainville, and several family members including his parents and siblings. Léon will be fondly remembered by the extended Mainville, Riberdy, Filion, Girouard, Neeson, and Laeer families, along with friends and former students. A celebration of life will take place in Ottawa in the fall, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
