Joseph Bernard (Bernie) (Bun) (Mr. T) TURCOTTE

Joseph Bernard Turcotte, known to many as Bernie, passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on June 4, 1937, in Ottawa, he was the husband of Patricia Eleanor Corrigan and father of Kevin, David, and Carole. He was also a grandfather to Felicia, Natalie Jaye, Simone, and Genevieve. Bernie is predeceased by his sister Denyse and brother Richard Turcotte. His parents were Joseph Maurice Turcotte and Marie Blanche Cécile Ouimet. Bernie had a distinguished career as a musician and educator, earning degrees from the Universities of Ottawa, Toronto, and Laurentian, as well as an ARCT in Clarinet from the Royal Conservatory of Music. He worked as a high school teacher and later as a provincial music consultant, school inspector, and superintendent with the Ministry of Education for Ontario. Bernie's interests in athletics and the arts were lifelong passions. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and several cousins throughout the Ottawa Valley and La Vallée de L'Outaouais.
