Fernand Clément Lafrenière

The family of Fernand Clément Joseph Lafrenière announces his peaceful passing on July 10, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 91. He was the son of the late René and Lucianna (née Giguère) Lafrenière and the beloved husband of the late Florence Lafrenière (née Neault). Fernand was a loving father to Richard (Kathy), the late Ronald (Gillian), Linda (Jean-Marc), and Louise Vaillancourt (Denis). He was a cherished 'pépère' to his grandchildren, including Alexander and Nicholas Lafrenière, Stéphanie and Jonathan (Chihiro) Lafrenière-Greig, and Sophie and Isabelle Vaillancourt. Fernand is survived by his siblings Clément (Gisèle), Bernadette Hartery (Edwin), and Maurice (Suzanne), and predeceased by Gérald (Francine), Aurel (late Helen), Aimé (late Berthe), Gaetan (Marie), Anita Poitras (late Gérard), and Thérèse Poitras (late Robert). A private family service will be held at Saint-Joseph d'Orléans Cemetery at a later date. The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Stonemont Retirement Lifestyle Residence, Bayshore Health Care, and the Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care.
