Clyde George Wadden

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Clyde George Wadden, a beloved father and husband, who died peacefully at Extendicare Laurier Manor on August 18, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. In accordance with his wishes, Clyde will be cremated, and his ashes will be returned to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Clyde was born on January 25, 1936, and grew up on the Mira River. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Mount Allison University and a master's in applied mathematics from Nova Scotia Tech. He married his childhood sweetheart, Hazel Wagner, on May 9, 1959. Clyde served as a flight officer and navigator in the Air Force before establishing a 30-year career in the defense industry with General Dynamics Canada in Ottawa. He was a dedicated deacon in his church and a loving father and grandfather. Clyde is predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Carl Wadden, and his brothers, Fred and Ray. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, his children Roberta (Gary), Karen, David, and Andrew (Terry), and his grandchildren Brandon (Rebecca), Matthew (Kristal), Lindsay (Joe), Amy (Cody), Bailey, and Jacob, along with three great-granddaughters, Stella, Wren, and Sienna. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Gloria Jensen, and her family, as well as many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Laurier Manor for their compassionate care. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, August 29, at 3 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, 325 Sandhill Rd, Kanata, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
