Born on September 13, 1925, Barbara is remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was predeceased by her husband, David Quain Patterson; her parents, Robert J. Murphy and Loretta Murphy of St. John's, NL; her siblings, Marie (Thomas Freeman), Regina (Andrew McBride), Janet, Judy (Christopher Aspinall), John (Madeleine), Robert (Stella), Paul (Eve), and David; and her brother-in-law, Garrett Patterson (Sylvia) of Ottawa. Barbara is survived by her niece, Barbara Freeman (Gabriella Goliger); her great-nephew, Robert McBride; her niece, Helen Patterson (Robert Vandenberg); and her sister-in-law, Genevieve Murphy (David). Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and Mc, located at 315 McLeod St, Ottawa, ON K2P1A2. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Parish Church, 174 Rue Wilbrod St, Ottawa, ON K1N6N8. Donations may be made in her memory to May Court Hospice in Ottawa or to a homeless women's shelter or agency of your choice.
