James Spiers (Jim)
James Wayne Murray Spiers, known to many as Jim, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family in Port Perry, Ontario. Born in Oshawa on February 16, 1947, Jim built a life centered on family, loyalty, and hard work. He graduated from Trent University in 1970 with a degree in Economics and married Nancy, his wife of nearly 56 years, that same year. Jim is survived by his wife Nancy, son Andrew and his wife Ashleigh, daughter Marni and her husband Wes, grandchildren Dwight, Bennett, and Kenzie, and sister-in-law Pam. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and the many young athletes he coached during his decades-long involvement with baseball, particularly with the Oshawa Shamrocks and Oshawa Double B teams. Jim devoted over three decades of his professional life to Ontario Hydro, earning respect for his integrity and dedication. He will be remembered for his love of baseball, his ability to build and create with his hands, and the countless lives he touched through his encouragement and example.
