Leo Joseph John MARTINEAU
Leo Joseph John Martineau passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Maple Villa Retirement Home in Burlington, at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife Maxine of 52 years and his daughter Julie (Jay) Dunchurch and grandson Eric (Erika) Red Lake. He also had children from his first marriage: Tom, Margaret Ann, Pat, and Joe. He was predeceased by his sisters Claire and Delores and his mom, Muriel. Leo served in the Canadian Army as a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons for fifteen years, stationed in Churchill, Manitoba, and several places in Ontario, and also served as a peacekeeper in Egypt and Germany. He worked as a truck driver delivering cars for Maris Transport and Auto Haulaway for 25 years across Ontario and to Detroit, Michigan, and later as a commissioner in security at Canada Inland Waters after his retirement. Leo was a member of the Oakville Legion and the Halton Naval Veterans Association, serving as sergeant at arms on several occasions. He lived at Maple Villa Retirement Home for the past year, where he was cared for with love and compassion. Leo and Maxine enjoyed traveling and camping together and spent a couple of winters in Florida. Cremation has taken place, and at his request, there will be no visitation or funeral.
