Wendy Jane HUTCHING

Wendy Jane Hutchings passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on February 1, 1935, she was the wife of Alexander 'Al' Hutchings, predeceased, and mother of Jeffrey, predeceased, Stephen, Roslyn, predeceased, Julia, and Jamie. She is also survived by her sister, Rand, and children. Wendy was 'Nanny' to Alexandra Hutchings. Born to Ernest and Dorothy Simpson, Wendy grew up in Toronto's west end and attended Lambton Kingsway Public School and Branksome Hall. She earned her diploma in physical and occupational therapy from the University of Toronto and met her husband on a blind date in Halifax. They married 16 months later and relocated to Orillia in 1958, where they raised five children and remained throughout their retirement. Wendy loved the natural world and was an expert on local history, publishing 'Early Days on Gull and Silver Lakes' in 1995.
