Pieter Smit

Pieter Smit of Orillia, Ontario, passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 24, 1941, he was a beloved member of his family and community. Pieter was predeceased by his parents, Maaike (Hiemstra) and Folkert, as well as his sisters, Riekje (Rita), Jeltje (Jane), and Neeltje (Nancy). He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Leslie, Mike (Christine), and Robert (Digna); his sister, Annet; his brother-in-law, Herman Robers; and his granddaughters, Mia, Chloe, and Cathy. Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mundell Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to your local OSPCA or the Orillia OSPCA in Dr. Pieter Smit's memory would be appreciated.
