Brenda Brett

Brenda Elizabeth Brett passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Toronto, she moved to the Orillia area at age 11 with her parents and grandmother. Brenda worked at the Huronia Regional Centre for 34 years, first in nursing and then in social work. After retirement, she enjoyed singing, whistling, and reading at retirement and long-term care homes, earning her the nickname 'the lady who whistles'. She was a prolific writer, creating memoirs, poems, and short stories. Brenda was devoted to caring for her mother and researching her family's genealogy. At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Her ashes will be interred with her parents at St. Andrew/St. James Cemetery, Orillia.
