Staff Sgt Grant Sharp

Grant Stanley Sharp, born July 20, 1937, in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 89. He was the husband of Joan Sharp, father of Grant (Marianne) Sharp and Rhonda Sharp (Mansoor Salimi), and grandfather of Erica (Daniel), Jacob (Maggie), and Brooke (Mark). A Canadian Army veteran, he served with Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) and later with The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment), attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and acting as Regimental Sergeant Major from 1970 to 1973. In 1960 he began a 31‑year career with the Hamilton‑Wentworth Regional Police, rising to Staff Sergeant with assignments in Major Crimes and the Joint Forces Unit. The family thanks friends, neighbours, nurses, personal support workers, Dr. Zizzo, Dr. Hussain, and the staff at Ian Anderson House for their care. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burlington Golf and Country Club on October 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thirteenth (XIII) Regiment Foundation of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment), Ian Anderson Hospice, or the Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada.
