Hugh Robert Marks passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 86. Born on March 2, 1939, in Rochester, New York, Hugh was the son of Hugh Sr. and Grace Marks, and the eldest brother of four siblings: Kathe, Maryanne, Patricia, and Terry. He attended Aquinas Institute in Rochester from 1954 to 1958, before enrolling at the University of Toronto, where he earned a degree in Business in 1962. It was during his college years that he met the love of his life, Ann Fontyn. The two were married in 1964, and built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Annie predeceased Hugh ten years ago. Hugh and Ann made their home in Scarborough, Ontario, from 1962 until 1986, where they were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, before moving to Oakville, where they became founding members of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Ann and Hugh took on leadership roles in both churches - serving in various roles centered on hospitality and administration. Hugh is survived by his three children: Michael Marks of Ontario; Laura (Brooks) Entwistle of Singapore; and Hugh Jr. of Alabama. He was a proud grandfather to JD, Sarah, Bryanna, Kayla, Ashley, and Trevor. Hugh is also survived by his brother, Terry (Cecile) Marks of Southern California, and was predeceased by his sisters, Kathe, Maryanne, and Patricia. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews.
