SUSAN ELEANOR MARY HUGGARD
Susan Eleanor Mary Huggard passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the age of 97, at North York General Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1928, in Smiths Falls, Ontario. The daughter of the late Eleanor Reynolds and James L. James, she grew up in Brockville. She married Robert Huggard, who predeceased her in 2015, of Windsor, on May 22, 1954. She is survived by her brother, The Rev. Canon Tom James, and his wife Jill, her children Bob and his wife Marie, Mary and her late husband Steven, and David and his wife Kelly; her grandchildren Colin and his wife Samantha, Dana and her husband Corey, Laura and her husband David, and Elena and her husband Liam; and her great-grandchildren Cameron, Aidan, and Quinn. Susan graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto, in 1951, and from The Institute of Child Study in 1952. She was active in the University Women's Clubs of North York, Brampton, and Montreal Lakeshore, The Chancel Guild of St. John's York Mills Anglican Church, and the North York Newcomers Club Alumnae. In 2022, she received The Arbor Award in recognition of her outstanding volunteer service to The University of Toronto. A funeral service will be held at St. John's York Mills Anglican Church, located at 19 Don Ridge Drive, North York, on Thursday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in St. John's churchyard following the service, and a reception will be held afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children.
