Marilyn Jean Buchanan
Marilyn Jean (Brown) Buchanan, aged 87, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on April 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A gifted painter, Marilyn expressed her gentle spirit through her art, capturing the beauty of landscapes and everyday moments. She was a devoted wife to David, a loving mother to Jordan (Brenda), Andrew (Cherie-Lynn), and Kevin (Esmeralda), and a cherished grandmother to Billy, Bev, Dom, Jacob, and Michaela. Marilyn is also survived by her sisters-in-law Theresa and Irene, and special niece Barb. She was predeceased by her parents Waldo and Christena Brown, in-laws Jake and Georgina Buchanan, and siblings Bessie, Carrie, Margaret, Lloyd, Mervin, Norris, Ted, Ed, and Robert. Born and raised in North Cobalt, Marilyn later moved to North Bay to work for GMAC, where she met David. They spent their married life in Lively and Timmins, enjoying summers on Manitoulin Island. Friends and family may call at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with a memorial service at Omond Memorial United Church on Saturday, April 25, at 1 pm.
