Ruth Marjorie (nee HUGHES) MCQUADE

Ruth Marjorie McQuade (nee Hughes) passed away peacefully with friends and family close by, at Valley Park Lodge, on Friday, May 8, 2026, in her 98th year, at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas McQuade for 64 years. Ruth was the much loved mother of Shawn, Colleen, and Dwayne McQuade (Jo-anne), and mother-in-law of Anne Schmitt (Bill). She was a cherished grandmother of Andrew (Emily), Shane, Jonathan, Joseph (Kayle) McQuade, and Leyla Marr, and a great-grandmother of Claire, A.J., Lilly, Bridget, and Emersyn McQuade. Ruth was the sister-in-law of Aunt Linda and was predeceased by her siblings, Harry, Evan, and Don Hughes of Niagara Falls. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their offspring of the McQuade and Hughes families. Ruth is also remembered by her friends and close caregivers, including Salvatore (Maria), Nancy (Roy), Myrna, and Melissa of Niagara Falls, and her extended family at Dufferin Place. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the friends and caregivers she met along her journey in healthcare, including those at Elgin Falls Retirement Community, GNGH, and Valley Park Lodge, Niagara Falls. In keeping with Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Morse & Son Event Centre, 5929 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Friday, May 22, from 2-4 p.m., with a celebrant to share Ruth's memory at 2:45 p.m.
