Lieutenant Colonel Ian Allan Purdie, OStJ, CD, passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 90. He was the father of James and Dianne, and grandfather of James, Thomas, Robert, William, and Liam. He was predeceased by his parents, brother James, sister Anne, wife Joyce, and soul mate Shirley Reynolds. Born in Timmins, Ontario, on May 13, 1936, Lieutenant Colonel Purdie had a distinguished military career, serving with several regiments and holding various positions, including Commanding Officer of The Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He also served as Chairman of St. John Ambulance and held leadership roles in several other organizations. Throughout his life, he was committed to service, including his work with Employment and Immigration Canada and his membership in The Royal Canadian Legion.
