Joan Suzanne Barden

Joan Suzanne Barden, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, passed away suddenly at the Niagara Health - Marotta Family Hospital on September 1, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 21, 1948, in Niagara Falls, Joan will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She dedicated her career to education, teaching at Cardinal Newman School and St. Patrick's School, before retiring from Mary Ward. In retirement, she cherished time with family and enjoyed meeting fellow teachers at local establishments, reflecting her deep-rooted connections within the community. Joan is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Margaret Barden; her sister, Marion Gibson; and her great-nephew, Ethan Dean. She is survived by her sister, Mary Beth Dean; brother-in-law, Bill Dean; nephew, Corey Dean; niece, Jaime Dean; and great-nephews, Holden and Hudson Dean. Cremation has taken place, and visitation will occur on Thursday, September 10th, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Patterson Funeral Home Ltd. A service will be held in the chapel on Friday, September 11th, at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church are appreciated. The family extends gratitude to the staff at Salvation Army The Eventide Home and the medical team at the Marotta Family Hospital for their compassionate care.
