Gladys May (nee Lord) PLATO

Gladys May Plato, nee Lord, passed away peacefully at Chippawa Creek at Bella Care Residence on July 17, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on March 4, 1929, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Henry 'Harry' and Florence Lord, she later moved to Kenora in Northern Ontario with her family. Gladys became an elementary school teacher and met her future husband, Fred Plato, at a summer refresher course. They married in 1954 and resided in Niagara Falls for over 70 years. She was a devoted mother to Richard, Nancy, Valerie, and Tom, and is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Fred, brothers Don and Sonny Lord, and sister Margaret Crawford. She was committed to community service, volunteering for various charities, and enjoyed curling, bowling, and golf. A cremation has taken place, and the family extends their gratitude to the staff at Willoughby Manor, Chippawa Creek at Bella Care Residence, and Care Partners.
