PAULA FRANCIS CASHEN

Paula Francis Cashen passed away peacefully at Southlake Health, Newmarket, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the age of 81, after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Eric. Paula is survived by her son, Eric Paul (Laurie); her grandson, Kooper; her daughter, Jennifer Dougherty (Shawn); and her grandsons, Graydon and Nolan. Born in Halifax, she was the youngest of two and is survived by her loving older sister, Jan. Paula was also dear to her many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Education degree, Paula started her teaching career at St. Stephen's in Halifax and later resumed her career at St. John XXIII Catholic Elementary in Unionville, where she worked until her retirement. In retirement, Paula explored her passions for art and bridge and had a great love for her three grandsons, Graydon, Nolan, and Kooper. Cremation has taken place, and a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment and a reception. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Southlake Health for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
