Kenneth John SCHMIDT

Kenneth John Schmidt passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Nithview Community, New Hamburg, at the age of 94. Born on February 8, 1932, in Carrick Township, Ken was the son of the late Alphonse and Madeleine (Reinhart) Schmidt. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Pearson) Schmidt, who predeceased him on February 4, 2016. Ken was a devoted and caring stepfather to Norman and Terry Trafford, Karen and Dan Kleist, David Trafford, Gail and Chuck Kreutzweiser, and Joanne and Gord Johnson. He is survived by his brothers Hugh Schmidt and Harry Schmidt and his sisters Janet Schumaker, Audrey Rotherman (Tony), Pat Deihl, and Joanne Halliday (Andy). Ken was predeceased by his stepdaughter-in-law Hanna Trafford, his sister-in-law Gail Schmidt, and his brother-in-law Ron Schumaker. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Brendan, Duncan, Eric, Quint, Tracy, Emily, Nikki, Brody, Kendall, and Arianna. A celebration of Ken's life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532, New Hamburg, on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Nithview Community through the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home's website.
