Irma Eileen (nee. Nafziger) SWARTZENTRUBER
Irma Eileen Swartzentruber (nee Nafziger) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her residence Nithview Community Long Term Care, New Hamburg, at the age of 94. She was born in Brunner, Ontario, a daughter of the late Rudy and Elizabeth (Gerber) Nafziger. Irma was the beloved wife of Nelson W. Swartzentruber, who predeceased her on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, and whom she married on May 26, 1956. She was the cherished and loving mother of Leigh and his wife Betty Swartzentruber, Brent and his wife Jennifer Swartzentruber, and Joan and her husband Doug Leach. Irma was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and wife Delores Swartzentruber, as well as many nieces and nephews. Irma was predeceased by her sisters Edith and husband Amos Jutzi, Catherine in infancy, Alta and husband Elroy Swartzentruber, and Marie Nafziger, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Grace and Raymond Schwartzentruber. Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Burns officiating. Private family interment will take place in the Steinmann Mennonite Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to International Teams Canada - CFPC Project, Burkina Faso would be appreciated by the family and can be done through the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Nithview Community third floor long term care, for the compassionate care shown to Irma and her family during her time there.
