Dorothy Estelle Bender (née Beckner) passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 78. She was the beloved wife of Glen, to whom she was married on February 24, 1968. Dorothy was the loving mother of Brad and wife Michelle of Brunner, Brent and wife Kari of Wellesley, and Lee Ann and husband Jamie Trachsel of Shakespeare. She is sadly missed by her grandchildren Wendy Lee, Kenny, Stephanie, Tyler, Brittany, Brett, Jesse, Jenna, Cole, Blair, Eric, Emily, and Corrina, and great-grandchildren Paisley, Isla, River, Kai, and Eloise. Dorothy is survived by her brothers Ken and Sheila Beckner of Kitchener, Barry Beckner of Victoria, B.C., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Norm Ashley of Fergus, Gloria Beckner of New Hamburg, Luanna and John Gravelle of Stratford, Bruce and Marlene Bender of New Hamburg, and Ruth and Jim Gingerich of St. Joseph. She was predeceased by her parents John and Theresa (Mulligan) Beckner, sisters June and Lloyd Holliday and Terry Wendon and Mary Ashley, and brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Marjorie Bender. Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Zion United Church, 215 Peel Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. In lieu of flowers, donations to the WRHN Foundation or the Zion United Church would be appreciated by the family.
