STANLEY SUMSION

Stanley Sumsion passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born on May 14, 1931, and grew up in Scarborough before relocating to Etobicoke in 1961. For most of his career he was employed by George Weston Limited, retiring at 62. Stan was the devoted husband of Sylvia for 67 years, a father to David and John, and a grandfather to Cara and Matthew. He was the twin brother of Bud. In his youth he played baseball and hockey; later he enjoyed golf, curling, bowling—recording a perfect 450 game on April 4, 1995 at Webbs Bowl in Etobicoke—fishing at family cottages on Young Lake, gardening, and traveling throughout Europe, Canada, the United States and the Caribbean with Sylvia and friends. As he requested, he was cremated and no funeral service will be held.
