SISTER ROSEMARIE DONOVAN OLM
Sister Rosemarie Donovan OLM passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 77, in the 78th year of her religious life. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Ellen and Thomas Donovan, as well as her sisters, Madeline and Marguerite, and her brother, Rev. Merlin Donovan. Sister Rosemarie is survived by her sister, Monica, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Born in Toronto, she was educated at St. Brigid's primary school and Notre Dame Academy before joining the Congregation of Our Lady's Missionaries. Sister Rosemarie trained as a nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Cornwall, Ontario, and later became the first elected Congregational Leader of her community, serving from 1962 to 1974. She played a pivotal role in establishing missions in Mexico, Brazil, and the Philippines, and later worked in Nigeria, where she founded a Centre for people with physical disabilities. After 30 years in Nigeria, Sister Rosemarie returned to Canada and resided at Presentation Manor until her passing. She will be deeply missed by her family, community, and the staff at the Manor.
