PERRY ROSEMOND, C.M.
Perry Rosemond, C.M., passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Max and Mona Rosemond (Magid). He is survived by his wife, Nora Rosemond (Niddery), his father, his father‑in‑law Michael and Erica, Calvin, and his grandson Maxwell. Rosemond began his career as an actor and, at 18, became a founding member of John Hirsch's Manitoba Theatre Centre. He later directed the CBC Winnipeg musical variety show Red River Jamboree and spent more than five decades writing, creating, directing and producing television. His credits include The Johnny Cash Show, Donny and Marie Show, Tom Jones Show, Fraggle Rock, The David Steinberg Show, Good Times, Bizarre, Super Dave, ABC Silver Anniversary, the Juno and Gemini Awards, Hockey Night in Canada, and fifteen seasons of Royal Canadian Air Farce. He executive‑produced When Jews Were Funny, which won best Canadian Feature Film at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. Rosemond also led CBC Toronto’s school and preschool programming, producing Mr. Dress Up and Friendly Giant and developing a Canadian edition of Sesame Street. He created the iconic series King of Kensington, drawing on his Winnipeg neighbourhood experiences.
