PANAGIOTA KOKKINIA
Panagiota Kokkinia passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 97, surrounded by her loving sons at Toronto's Hellenic Home for the Aged. Born on August 25, 1928, in Athens, Greece, Panagiota survived WWII, the Greek Civil War, and the military dictatorship. She worked as a nurse for children orphaned during the Civil War and later for individuals with mental illness. A woman of deep faith, Panagiota maintained the traditions of Greek Orthodoxy. She was a loving wife to her late husband Dimitrios and mother to their five sons. Panagiota was predeceased by her husband, sister Ekaterini, half-brother Lefteris, and eldest son Konstantinos. She is survived by her brother Vasilios, now Monahos Nektarios, half-sister Elizabeth Raftopoulou, four sons John, Vasilios, Athanasios, and Steve, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held on August 7 at 11 a.m. at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Mississauga. Donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged-Toronto.
