NORMAN JOHN DOWDALL
Norman John Dowdall passed away peacefully at his home in Mississauga, on December 23, 2025, at the age of 95, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Toronto on April 19, 1930, Norm was a man defined by determination, confidence, a quick wit, and a competitive spirit. He shared 69 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Christina. Together, they built a life in Toronto before moving to Niagara Falls, where they lived for 10 years, and later settling in Mississauga. Predeceased by his two beloved children, Heather and Kirk; as well as his sister, Carol. Norm is survived by his wife, Christina (nee Sinclair); his sister, Joan; his son-in-law, Richard and his wife, Lisa. He was a proud grandfather to three granddaughters: Amber (Kyle), Hayleigh (Grant), and Taylor (Frank); and a cherished great-grandfather to Nate, Grant Jr., Annie, Drew, and Eleanor. He will be dearly missed by many relatives and friends. A passionate athlete, Norm also had a distinguished hockey career. He played professional hockey for the Philadelphia Ramblers and the Washington DC Lions, and remained deeply involved in the sport for many years, as both a player and coach. Norm also enjoyed a successful career in sales and management with Rothmans. Following his retirement, he continued to stay active, working for many years in the Pro Shop at Derrydale Golf Course. He truly loved the game of golf and cherished the many friendships he formed along the way. A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Norm, Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., at St. John's Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium - The Willow Room, 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
