LUIS ALBERTO COUTO

Luis Alberto Couto passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 4, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on December 20, 1935, in Horta on the island of Faial in the Azores, Luis completed his military service before owning a small café. He married Alice De Jesus Dutra in 1958, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. The couple immigrated to Canada in 1959, welcoming their daughter, Marilyn, the following year. Luis was known for his love of cooking, whether for a simple barbecue or an elaborate holiday meal. He enjoyed home projects, dancing, and cherished friendships. He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughter, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Visitation will take place on September 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, with the funeral service on September 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Toronto Humane Society.
