LAUREL "LAURIE" JEAN SMITH

LAUREL 'LAURIE' JEAN SMITH (nee MURRAY) passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 98, in Duncan, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, James Van Waldron Smith, her parents, William Arthur and Mary Agnes Murray (nee Burnett), and her brother, Mervin Arthur Murray. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her daughter, Jane Iverson (Lance), her sons, Murray and Bruce Smith, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister-in-law, Sue Vaillancourt (Hector), and her niece and nephew, Wendy (Keith) and Bill Murray. Born on April 12, 1928, in Ottawa, Ontario, she grew up and later married, living in Wakefield, Quebec, before moving to Toronto, where she raised her family and lived for 65 years. Ten years ago, she moved to the west coast to be closer to her family. Interment will be at St. Mary's Somenos Anglican Cemetery in Duncan, BC.
