KEN (KENJI) MOTOMURA
Ken Motomura passed away on August 10, 2026, at the age of 90, after a long struggle with dementia. Born on May 25, 1936, in Vancouver, BC, to Yutaka Motomura and Tsunaye Ishida, he was the middle child of seven siblings. During the Second World War, he was interned with his family in Slocan, BC, and later sent to Neyes, in Northern Ontario. The family eventually settled in Nipigon, ON. Ken graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in mechanical engineering and went on to work for Ontario Hydro after a brief stint in aerospace. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Yeiko, Rimiko, Hiromu, and Kimiye. Ken is survived by his brother Fumio and his wife Denise, sister Fusaye and her husband Martin, his wife of 55 years Hazel, son Andrew and his wife Alicia, daughter Michiko and her husband Jamie, grandchildren Shayde and his wife Elizabeth, Aaron, Graham, Tomiko, and Solomon, and great-grandchildren Noah and Rafe.
