IRENE SMITH

Irene Smith (née Young) of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 5, 1936, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Andrew and Sarah Young, Irene was actively involved in sports and social clubs in her youth. She immigrated to Canada in 1955 and married Donald Austin Smith in Toronto in 1957. They settled in Mississauga in 1966, where Irene resided for the remainder of her life. Irene is lovingly remembered by her sons, Scott, Jeffrey (Janine), and Donald; her grandchildren, Andrew, Laurynn, Taya, Jordan, Ashley, and Jackson; and her sister, Sheila. A service will be held at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
