DOREEN FRANCES DOWNES

Doreen Frances Downes was born on July 16, 1932, and passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2026, at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Tom Downes and the daughter of the late Cecil and Marie Hunwicks. Predeceased by her sister Barbara (the late John Anderson), Doreen is survived by her daughters Donna (the late James Altimas), Karen (Steve Simpson) and Sharon (Rick Simpson); grandchildren Meagan (James), Emma (Gerry), Rachel (Jonny), Trevor (Alex) and Ashley; great‑grandchild Jude; and nephews Mike, Steve and Doug Anderson and their families. A funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at The Beechwood National Memorial Centre in Ottawa, followed by a reception. Donations in her memory may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
